Nivà

A story of family, passion and taste

For us at Nivà, gelato is much more than a simple dessert: it’s an art, a story told through authentic ingredients, precise gestures, and true passion. We believe in artisanal excellence, born from attention to detail, careful selection of raw materials, and respect for the natural timing of each process.
Each flavor is a perfect balance between tradition and creativity, where the simplicity of the ingredients meets the style and elegance of a unique signature. Offering an authentic, refined, and sincere flavor experience is our philosophy, every day, in every Nivà gelato shop.

The story of Nivà began over thirty years ago, in the kitchens of the Bontan restaurant, where Diana and her husband, Silvio, a talented Michelin-starred chef, created a place where quality and creativity blended in every dish. Every detail mattered, every ingredient told a story, and a passion for cooking was the beating heart of every preparation.

Twenty years later, Diana decided to continue that legacy of love for cooking and things done well. Thus was born Nivà, a project that combines Italian gastronomic tradition with a modern vision of artisanal gelato: authentic, refined, and capable of telling a story in every spoonful.

Alongside Diana, Roberto, a pharmacist by training and a perfectionist by nature, has put his experience and knowledge to work creating precise and impeccable recipes, where every ingredient is carefully chosen and every balance meticulously crafted. Supporting them are Diana’s sister Sara and Roberto’s brother Eugenio, who have helped transform Nivà into a true family business, where everyone contributes their own talent and vision.

In 2018, Nivà became one of the Maestro Del Gusto of the Piedmont region, and will remain so for all the following years, confirming the prestigious role it holds in craftsmanship.

In 2021, Alexandre, Joana, and Carlos joined the project, a trio with extensive experience in marketing and engineering and a strong passion for gelato. That same year, Nivà was awarded the 3 Coni Gambero Rossi prize, the highest recognition in the gelato world, an award it will continue to hold in subsequent years.

Over time, Nivà has grown, from its first gelateria in Turin, opened in 2015, to elegant boutiques in Cannes, Lisbon, and Porto. Today, the new generations, Dalia and Daniel, Diana and Silvio’s children, continue this legacy with enthusiasm and passion, combining tradition and modernity, artisanal savoir-faire and contemporary creativity.

Thanks to Nivà’s growing success in Porto — driven by customer enthusiasm, the high number of events, and the collaborations that have shaped the city’s gastronomic scene — 2026 will be a special year. After conquering Bolhão, Matosinhos, and the Time Out Market in Ribeira, the brand takes another natural step in its history: the opening of its fourth point of sale, precisely in the Ribeira area, one of Porto’s most emblematic and vibrant locations.
