The Cherries of Pecetto – A Piedmontese Treasure
The cherries of Pecetto come from Pecetto Torinese, a small hillside town just outside Turin, famous throughout Piedmont for producing some of the region’s finest cherries. Thanks to its sunny slopes, mild microclimate and centuries of agricultural tradition, Pecetto has become a true “cherry capital”.
These cherries are known for their intense flavor, firm texture, and vibrant deep-red color. They are typically harvested between late May and June and are celebrated every year with the historic Sagra delle Ciliegie, a festival dedicated entirely to this precious fruit.
Farmers in Pecetto cultivate both classic and ancient local varieties, many of which are grown using traditional methods that preserve authenticity and quality. The result is a cherry that is exceptionally sweet, aromatic, and fragrant, perfect for enjoying fresh or using in desserts, jams, and artisanal gelato.
In the Piedmontese tradition, Pecetto cherries are not just fruit — they represent a connection to the land, to family orchards, and to a heritage that has been passed down for generations.
